Dr Kit Chan

BDS, MDSc.

Dr Kit Chan graduated in Dentistry from The University of Sydney in 1979. After working at the Dental Hospital and in private practice in the Southern suburbs, she returned to Sydney University to specialise in orthodontics and obtained her Masters’ Degree in 1989.

Kit has worked as an associate orthodontist in Pymble and Forestville and then as a partner in a large group practice in Hurstville, Parramatta, Liverpool and Epping.

In May 2005, Kit joined Totally Ortho in the inner west and loves the fact that this practice is multicultural (both patients and staff) and has patients from many different socio- economic levels making it a very interesting place in which to work. She also loves the happy atmosphere that this practice engenders.

Kit is a visiting consultant orthodontist at both The Westmead Children’s Hospital and The Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick and has been a tutor in the Orthodontic Department at the University of Sydney since 1990. Her Masters’ thesis was on the treatment of cleft lip and palate and this has remained a field of great interests to her. Kit also treats children with other Cranio-facial abnormalities, medically compromised children as well as patients with sleep apnoea.

Kit is a member of many dental professional groups (ADA, ASO, ACLAPA, and Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontists) and has held positions on their organising committees. Like Drs Imer and Katyal, Dr Chan also believes in evidence based treatment planning.
